Y-EDCO

Youth EDucation on responsible use of plastics for Cleaner Oceans and waterways (Y-EDCO)

The project started 1st of May 2025 and is a 2-year project with funding from Eramus+.

The aim of the Y-EDCO project is to contribute to fostering an understanding of plastic pollution in our oceans and waterways using mixed technologies including Augmented Realities, (AR). The project aims to inform and influence EU Vocational Educators and Trainers (VET) in both formal and informal settings. This will foster active citizenship within the Youth sector and encourage an understanding of plastic pollution across a range of disciplines. This will encourage entrepreneurship and the future employability of young people within a range of green areas across Europe and beyond. To achieve this aim, the project has the following objectives:

  • To empower, motivate and inspire EU VET trainers to exploit a range of AR Tools to help them contribute to sustainable practices that result in less plastic pollution in our oceans and waterways, thereby contributing to the EU Green Deal and managing climate change;
  • To develop a range of freely accessible, digital training tools and modules that can be used by educators in a formal and non-formal setting to train Youth and Adult learners and up-skill existing staff/stakeholders with knowledge on a range of AR tools that can be used to empower sustainable practices that result in less plastic pollution;
  • To widely disseminate information on the Y-EDCO project and its results; to maximise the impact on EU educators and students, as well as existing stakeholders keen to exploit AR tools to manage plastic waste.
